On Saturday, I ventured to the beautiful Niagara-On-The-Lake region to visit my friend, the beautiful Stephanie of Girlnola.
We started at Mahtay Cafe & Lounge, a new and eclectic cafe in downtown St. Catharine’s.
The menu features a variety of healthy food choices including raw, vegan and gluten-free options.
I love the vibe that the owner Julio has created. It is so inviting, comfortable and relaxed.
At the front of the cafe is seating and the back features an inspiring art gallery and space for musicians and poetry readings.
Now for the food! The food…
Just incredible. The chefs are a husband and wife duo and it is so apparent that they truly love and have passion for what they do. We ate like Goddesses while we were there and the service was beyond spectacular.
If I lived in the area this would be the kind of place I would love to hang out at to read, meet friends for tea or dessert, go on a date or simply find inspiration.
Next, we stopped off at the local Farmer’s Market and made a new friend.
Back at Stephanie’s home, we routed through her lush garden in search of dinner!
We found it! Spinach, swiss chard, red pepper, beans, basil, tomatoes and carrots, all growing right in her backyard!
We assembled a gorgeous salad and topped with with Girlnola’s Sunsation Trail Mix – chickpeas, apricots, goji berries and hemp seeds and topped with a savoury lemon-tahini-basil dressing.
And dessert was an amazing power parfait with banana soft serve with a generous scoop of Vega Sport Protein Powder in Chocolate, yacon syrup and raw cacao powder. Sandwiched between each layer of soft serve we used Girlnola’s ChocoBerry Granola. It was the perfect.
I returned home, happy, relaxed, full and content!
