Hello everyone!  I hope you had a great post-Canada Day or Independence Day weekend!  I just finished a workout using kettlebells and a medicine ball at the gym.  It was the first time I had ever worked out with kettlebells and wowza it was good!

For my second installment of Beauty By Nature I am going to talk about the most amazing skin mask I have found to date.  But first, some background…since my teenage years I have always been an oily skin/breakout kind of girl.  I’m told this can be turned into a positive because I won’t wrinkle as fast but somehow that doesn’t make it better!  Once I started on the pill the majority of my acne cleared up but as mentioned before since kicking my pill habit I have been suffering with major cystic acne.

I have tried so many products – expensive ones, brands endorsed by celebrities (dear self, they get paid to say to say it works, duh!) but they are full of chemicals and generally don’t work.  My dear Naturopath suggested doing a honey mask.  At first I thought this was crazy, “what do you mean slather my face with sticky SUGAR?”  That is until I tried it.

Honey Face Mask

Ingredients:

1-2 tsp Raw, local, unpasteurized honey

Directions:

1. Cleanse face with your face wash of choice

2. Scoop out some  honey and slather over face

3. Wait 20-30 minutes and rinse skin

4. Apply toner or acne treatment and moisturizer

Easy-peasy right?  Don’t worry about residue, honey rinses clean, is natural and it has amazing anti-inflammatory and anti-microbial properties.  I have been doing this every day for the last 4 days and there has been an instant difference in the way my skin looks – there is less redness and inflammation, any developing acne hasn’t risen to the surface, blackheads are disappearing and my skin looks more even.  Please note, while I am vegan I do eat and use honey.
